The Swing of Desire
On my cheek rests
the shadow of a ear-drop,
and from here to there
swings my desire.
I’m the fresh moist fragrance
which blooms in the forest;
I’m the smell of the new earth
after the first rain; when I breath,
with each play of breadth,
all over me,
the spread of pleasure.
And for me, slowly,
the intoxication:
like I’m floating in a dream.
Drops of sweat on my fore head.
This has happened
— many a times.
(a poem by Mamta G Sagar, translated from Kannada language by Chitra Panikker)
