First Love
It happened then,
The tenth of June,
I recall now,
They played our tune,
It takes me back,
The day we met,
Love at first sight,
You don’t forget,
I heard your voice,
It’s with me now,
And it was raining,
Yes, and how,
I fell for you,
Right there and then,
I’m sweet sixteen,
And never kissed,
So this is what,
They say I’ve missed,
You’re in a band,
And sing the blues,
I never thought,
My heart I’d lose,
You’re just a lad,
Of seventeen,
The brownest eyes,
I’d ever seen,
And tall and dark,
And truly handsome,
You play guitar,
There’s no one dancing,
You look at me,
I walk on air,
I’m in the crowd,
You find me there,
My thoughts are racing,
Heart is too,
Why do I feel,
So scared of you,
I’m happy, yes,
I’m crying too,
And laughing,
Holding on to you,
Senses reeling,
Falling fast,
It’s such a shame……..
It didn’t last.

Genie In A Bottle
For you I’d climb a mountain,
I’d grab the furthest star,
I’d walk from here to Timbuktu,
No distance is too far.
I’d drive all night, and longer,
For just a passing glance,
I’d camp in your back garden,
If I thought I had a chance.
I’d walk through coals and feel no pain,
If you were waiting there,
I’d find you in a crowded room,
Forgive me if I stare.
You know I’d heal your broken heart,
I’ll take away your pain,
Remember now, that warm embrace,
To make you smile again.
For you’re all I ever wanted,
I love you, heart and soul,
And I would gladly die for you,
Because you made me whole.

I Am Woman
I am woman,
Proud and free,
More to me,
Than what you see,
I stand alone,
A world apart,
Just holding fast,
To wayward heart.
I am healer,
Poet too,
I see colour,
Rainbow hue,
All at one,
With God above,
Forever bright,
Eternal love.
I am fire,
Burning gold,
Cold as ice,
If truth be told,
Just a spark,
Light a flame,
Glowing embers,
Die again.
From the ashes,
Rise once more,
Just passing through,
An open door,
Looking back,
From up ahead,
Now hear the fools,
They call me dead.
I am spirit,
Pure and bright,
Rising up,
To meet the light,
I enter there,
The realms of love,
It’s all around,
Below, above.
My kindred souls,
Enfold me there,
And full of joy,
I ask them,
Where?
Should I now be,
So bright and free,
For I am woman,
I am me.

I Met A Man
I met a man one evening,
Somewhere, down by the sea,
He came out of a doorway,
And walked across to me.
There was no smile upon his face,
His expression quite severe,
I looked him squarely in the eyes,
His soul stared back at me.
No word of greeting did he make,
No need for trivial speech,
He put his arms around me, then,
I felt his pain, so deep.
No verbal introductions,
For names were not required,
We stood there for the longest time,
The crowds just passed us by.
I felt I really knew him,
But didn’t know from where,
His face was so familiar,
I couldn’t help but stare.
I closed my eyes and then I felt,
My feet come off the ground,
We’re flying now, just you and I,
My soulmate, I have found.
I looked at him; I could not smile,
He did the same to me,
For he had surely stole my heart,
And taken it away.
He held me like a precious child,
We shared a tender kiss,
A silent goodbye from the heart,
And then he walked away.
I know he’s out there somewhere,
He journeys on his way,
He’s still the first thing on my mind,
When I wake to face the day.
And when I close my eyes at night,
In dreams he comes to me,
I glimpse his face, he’s smiling now,
We’re flying once again.
