I Found A Key
I found a key,
To turn a lock,
That held a heart,
Secure,
At first I hesitated,
Held back,
Till,
I was sure.
I turned the key,
A little bit,
It felt a little,
Slack,
A little scared,
The heart within,
Could never,
Love me back.
The key was with me,
For a while,
Held it time, and,
Time again,
And the more,
That I held on to it,
The more it caused,
Me pain.
I held the key,
Within my hand,
And thought,
Its now or never,
I realised,
The heart within,
Belonged to me,
Forever.

I Met A Man
I met a man one evening,
Somewhere, down by the sea,
He came out of a doorway,
And walked across to me.
There was no smile upon his face,
His expression quite severe,
I looked him squarely in the eyes,
His soul stared back at me.
No word of greeting did he make,
No need for trivial speech,
He put his arms around me, then,
I felt his pain, so deep.
No verbal introductions,
For names were not required,
We stood there for the longest time,
The crowds just passed us by.
I felt I really knew him,
But didnt know from where,
His face was so familiar,
I couldnt help but stare.
I closed my eyes and then I felt,
My feet come off the ground,
Were flying now, just you and I,
My soulmate, I have found.
I looked at him; I could not smile,
He did the same to me,
For he had surely stole my heart,
And taken it away.
He held me like a precious child,
We shared a tender kiss,
A silent goodbye from the heart,
And then he walked away.
I know hes out there somewhere,
He journeys on his way,
Hes still the first thing on my mind,
When I wake to face the day.
And when I close my eyes at night,
In dreams he comes to me,
I glimpse his face, hes smiling now,
Were flying once again.

I Need To Fly
I think I need to fly now,
To seek out pastures new,
Let me soar just like an eagle,
Find solace in a view.
Behold majestic landscape,
Of which I now belong,
Im higher than a mountain,
And sweeter than a song.
I see you now so clearly,
From my vantage point on high,
And all that lies between us,
Is the nothingness of sky.
A sky so full of colours,
Not just the shades of blue,
They dazzle with their brilliance,
Make a rainbow just for you.
A scene thats ever changing,
Yet still it looks the same,
You gaze upon this masterpiece,
Which has no other name.
You look and see the eagle,
Do you know, you now see me,
Or do you see the sparrow,
On the branch, upon your tree.
I think I need to fly now,
My mission is complete,
I came, I saw, I conquered,
Are you happy in defeat?

I Thought That I Was Dreaming
I thought that I was dreaming,
In another time and place,
With no one there I recognised,
No old familiar face,
I thought that I was dreaming,
In a world so far away,
Unspoken words rang clearly,
It was neither night nor day,
I didnt see a landscape,
Or a moon that shone so bright,
But I was in a special place,
A place of love and light,
I didnt see an angel,
Or hear a heavenly choir,
No demons at the gates of hell,
Nor raging burning fire,
I saw a new born baby,
Blue eyes and flaxen hair,
Instinctively, I held him,
With tender loving care,
Yet still not recognising,
This child with skin so fair,
I closed my eyes, then opened,
I turned and saw him there,
My brother stood beside me,
Unspoken words were mine,
His gentle blue eyes smiling,
Telling me, that he was fine,
And in that place of love and light,
My brother stood sublime,
He said, You must go back now,
For now, is not your time.
