Driftwood
We built a bonfire on the beach,
A fire to keep us warm,
You put your arms around me,
And we watched the setting sun.
My head upon your shoulder,
Your breath upon my skin,
The moment overwhelming,
I couldn’t take it in.
We sat in silence, listening,
Bathed in a golden glow,
The sun high in the sky above,
The bonfire: far below.
And when the sun had left us,
And vanished for the night,
We fed the flames with driftwood,
And watched the birds take flight.

Fall In Love
I didn’t want to fall in love again,
Now every waking thought is one of you,
Becoming temporarily insane,
Now tell me, are you feeling crazy too,
I have your photograph within a frame,
And night and morning I reach out and touch,
It’s signed with love and then you wrote your name,
I gaze upon the face I love so much,
I look at me, so happy by your side,
Delighting in your very company,
The way I feel about you, I can’t hide,
My love shines bright, for all the world to see.
I didn’t want to fall in love with you,
I did, and now I don’t know what to do.

Fell In Love Again
I cannot eat or sleep, can’t ease my mind,
My every thought embellished with your love,
I tried to walk away, leave you behind,
Love left its mark, when push, it came to shove,
So many moons have risen, waxed and set,
The stars still twinkle brightly in the night,
The angels blessed the skies the night we met,
And gave us wings to let that love take flight,
And for a time we soared above the sea,
Oblivious to all who watched us fly,
Lost in the deepest ocean, you and me,
Quite unconcerned, the world had passed us by.
I cannot eat or sleep, no longer sane,
I met you and I fell in love again.

First Love
It happened then,
The tenth of June,
I recall now,
They played our tune,
It takes me back,
The day we met,
Love at first sight,
You don’t forget,
I heard your voice,
It’s with me now,
And it was raining,
Yes, and how,
I fell for you,
Right there and then,
I’m sweet sixteen,
And never kissed,
So this is what,
They say I’ve missed,
You’re in a band,
And sing the blues,
I never thought,
My heart I’d lose,
You’re just a lad,
Of seventeen,
The brownest eyes,
I’d ever seen,
And tall and dark,
And truly handsome,
You play guitar,
There’s no one dancing,
You look at me,
I walk on air,
I’m in the crowd,
You find me there,
My thoughts are racing,
Heart is too,
Why do I feel,
So scared of you,
I’m happy, yes,
I’m crying too,
And laughing,
Holding on to you,
Senses reeling,
Falling fast,
It’s such a shame……..
It didn’t last.
