Wedding Day Blues
Mother wakes me, with a smile,
Opens curtains, sun is shining,
Have to hurry, get hair done,
Church is booked, be there at one,
Are you happy? Yes of Course,
Am I happy? I dont know,
Feel despondent, sense foreboding,
Hog the bathroom, now Im soaking,
Do my make up, try to smile,
Panic over, flowers arrive,
All around me, sounds of laughter,
Happy bride is what theyre after,
Look through window, car will wait,
White Mercedes at the gate,
White organza, then the lace,
Clip the veil on, hide my face,
Now Im ready, time to go,
Neighbours wait, confetti thrown,
Get to church, here comes the bride,
Biting lip, I step inside,
At the alter, there he stands,
I arrive, he takes my hand,
Vicar says, Were gathered here
.,
I feel panic, gripped with fear,
Do you take this, I think not,
I look at him, so full of hope,
Could I simply turn and run,
This dont feel right, this aint fun,
Too far gone now, no escape,
I reply, I do, I fake,
Sign the papers, now its legal,
Come outside, this feels fatal,
Church bells ring, confetti thrown,
Tomorrow we fly out to Rome,
Then Grand Hotel in Paris, France,
Oh how I wish, I felt Romance.

Whispers
And lately in her dingy little room,
Her discontentment settles like a dust,
For once a haven now becomes her tomb,
Her once steel sharpened mind shown signs of rust,
She dreams of riding stallions on a beach,
And taste the saline spray from ocean deep,
To find a place no human can impeach,
But for the one she so aspires to keep,
She rides the horse avoiding shifting sand,
And sees him standing high upon a hill,
Now climbing slowly reaching for his hand,
He holds her tight against the autumn chill.
Her dingy little room now clear and bright,
He whispers in her ear by candlelight.

Another Day Gone
I gaze out from my window,
To the dampened streets below,
Deprived of moonlight serenade,
The streetlight casts its glow,
The atmosphere is heavy,
The clouds are pressing down,
But all is calm and peaceful,
In this sleepy little town,
And gentle rain is falling,
It glistens on the trees,
I hear no sound of mocking birds,
Or busy bumble bees,
The darkness signals home time,
And curtains tightly drawn,
Some happy, some regretful,
That another day is gone.

Are You Asleep?
I spend my time,
When you are gone,
Just listening,
To a favourite song,
Or gazing somewhere,
Up above,
Or write a sonnet,
Words of love,
They tumble, tortured,
From the sky,
Im feeling low,
And feeling high,
Distracted,
Thats the way to be,
I watch a movie,
On TV,
I catch the news,
On channel ten,
Storm and tempest,
Strike again,
So difficult,
To contemplate,
Theyre queuing up,
At Heavens Gate,
I sit a while,
Commiserate,
And say a prayer,
Its getting late,
And thankful now,
For you and me,
Discard the scene,
Thats on T.V.
And in the quiet,
Time to weep,
Where are you now?
Are you asleep?
