My New Hair
I look at the image,
A reflection in a mirror,
The soon to be old me,
Replaced by the new,
Someone different,
Yet the same,
Long blonde tresses,
Grown silently,
Un-noticed,
Neglected and un-cared for,
And soon to be rejected,
Cut blunt,
At the edges,
To lie discarded,
On a polished wooden floor,
And swept away,
For disposal,
A final resting place,
Amidst damp teabags,
And coffee grains,
And all manner of things,
Renamed as trash.
I look at the image,
The reflection of the new,
Carefully and easily created,
By skilled hands,
And cold steel scissors,
Cutting swiftly,
Without a second glance,
Or remorse,
The new, flat and damp,
And teased and tempted,
By noisy warm appliances,
The old becomes new,
And emerges,
Like a butterfly in Spring.

Perfectly Composed
I lost some happy memories,
Three dozen in a row,
It should have rewound faster,
Instead, it rewound slow.
I blamed it on the batteries,
Changed old ones for some new,
I thought I fixed the problem,
And opened up to view.
My roll of happy memories,
Was well over exposed,
The memories gone forever,
All perfectly composed.

Please Go
Please go now,
There is nothing left to say,
For love is gone,
You let it slip away,
You took so much for granted,
Hurt me so,
Now love is gone,
Im asking you,
Please go
You see, I dont know,
Who you really are,
I thought I found in you,
A shining star,
And I was blinded,
By the light you shone,
I turned around,
And then the light was gone,
I stumbled in the darkness,
For a while,
Reached out to catch,
The remnant of a smile,
The smile was un-reflected,
In your eyes,
No longer can we wear,
This slim disguise.
Please go now, walk away,
Ive set you free,
The truth is,
You no longer, care for me.

She's Gone
The case is packed, no more to say
No fond farewells, no written note
A train to catch, a taxi first
And to the station, here I go
Im on my way
Adventure looms
Its daunting, yes, exciting too
Im feeling brave, a little scared
But what the heck, I am nineteen
Theres nothing here, but broken dreams
A fine romance comes to an end
I rap the job, give up the flat
Im on my way, away from that
And you
.
The reason I must go, or not
I step aboard the London train
I find a seat thats forward facing
I do not wish to look behind
Or turn to give a backward glance
I watch the passengers come and go
And on the platform, one young man
Arms outstretched to welcome her
As she approaches, he enfolds
From this day forward, to have and hold
Im interrupted from this scene
To help a woman with her case
And do you mind if I sit here
Oh No, of course, I gesture there
Oh, please dont speak
I need some time, to find my thoughts
Im travelling blind, no home, no work
And where tonight, where would I sleep
Ill think of that when I arrive
So just sit back, enjoy the ride
And if all else fails, theres Auntie Jeans
The train moves off, Im on my way
A brand new life, streets paved with gold
Just seven hours, five hundred miles
From you
..
