  1.

Somewhere

Oh, to be lying,
On a beach,
Somewhere,
With sand in my toes,
And the wind,
In my hair.

And only the sound,
Of the seagulls,
On high,
On a beach,
Somewhere,
Under sunny blue sky.

The gentle caress,
Of the waves,
On the shore,
And you close,
Beside me,
Could I ask for more?

A soft sandy beach,
That goes on,
Forever,
You, me,
And a beach,
So happy together.

  2.

Are You Asleep?

I spend my time,
When you are gone,
Just listening,
To a favourite song,
Or gazing somewhere,
Up above,
Or write a sonnet,
Words of love,
They tumble, tortured,
From the sky,
I’m feeling low,
And feeling high,
Distracted,
That’s the way to be,
I watch a movie,
On TV,
I catch the news,
On channel ten,
Storm and tempest,
Strike again,
So difficult,
To contemplate,
They’re queuing up,
At Heaven’s Gate,
I sit a while,
Commiserate,
And say a prayer,
It’s getting late,
And thankful now,
For you and me,
Discard the scene,
That’s on T.V.
And in the quiet,
Time to weep,
Where are you now?
Are you asleep?

Sunset

The sun went down today at half past four,
Just as I finished working for the week,
I’ve seen the sun set many times before,
Today, I held my breath; and could not speak,

It sank so slowly way out in the west,
And tinged my snow capped hills a dusky pink,
A sight that never leaves me unimpressed,
So mesmerised, I force my eyes to blink,

The grey clouds in the east, were pink and blue,
The sun had touched the sky for miles around,
And then it changed, took on a lilac hue,
I hold my breath for silence has no sound.

For all was well within my world today,
I watched the sun until it went away.

Hush Now, Child

Hush now child,
No need to say goodbye,
No winter song,
No gentle lullaby,

Be still now child,
You have no pain, no fear,
The time has come to pass,
This is your year,

Be calmed dear child,
For I stand by your side,
Don’t turn away now child,
We cannot hide,

Hold on now child,
Remember me with love,
And shine your light on me,
From up above,

And hush, now child,
Just spread your wings and fly,
No winter song,
No gentle lullaby.
