Spring
In yonder shaded woodland knell,
I spy a group of pale bluebells
Nodding their heads in unison
Welcoming Springs watery sun.
Springtime it is here at last,
Shutting out winter past,
Daffodils are scattered round
Standing proudly on fertile ground.
Little birds are all a flurry,
Building nests in a hurry
New life all begins again
All say HAIL welcome Spring.

The Foal
Struggling to stand on wet green land,
Mother nervously at hand
New born foalon spindly legs
Welcomed to the world by chilly winds.
First steps taken tentatively,
Gives his first joyous whinney,
Strengthening legs....he stretches out
Soon...proudly , he struts about.
Galloping now with great speed
Of his mother....he takes no heed
Owner looks in oer the gate
Says 'Someday Shergar you will be great'

Winter
When frost lays its icy hand
Upon the greeness of the land
Pools transformed over night
Countryside, a crystal white
When winter chill doth blow his breath
Holding the world in icy grip
Silent stillness all around
Snow falling softly on the ground.
Laughing children in the snow
Youthful faces all aglow
World transformed, magic sight,
In their beds, sleep well tonight

Snow
Fluttering gently to the ground,
Touching earth without a sound
Transforming world with its glow
Magical world of winter snow,
Painting landscapes with its touch,
Different picture on every bush,
Silent world, painted clean
Moonlight casts an eerie sheen.
Night time hunters all around,
Barn owl, out on the hunt,
Silently surveys his world,
Dormouse dashes cross the snow
Dead quickly -just one blow.
Morning sun creeps oer the hill
Lighting up a world still
Rain clouds begin to loom
Winter snow....gone too soon.
