  313.

Two life lessons

I learned two lessons
A long time ago
From those near death -
Not yet their time to go.
What they saw and heard
Was written in a book*
About their 'passing over' -
A kind of tunnel they took.
Love others,
Said the Being of Light,
Let this advice
Remain in your sight.
And continue to learn,
He said,
For an interesting life
And a spirit well-fed.
Do these two
For a happier you.

(*'Life After Life')

Unfailing

david loved You
did his best
messed up
but passed life's test

he stuck to You
even when he felt blue
even when it seemed
You invisibly withdrew

prophets and saints
both male and female
tell a similar tale:

when all hope
seems hopeless
God will not fail

  315.

US versus other nations

america, USA
where might makes right
oppose US, world?
we're right and we'll fight!

we're bigger and badder
if you nations criticize US
we'll get madder

our offensive military
we call 'defense'
tiny nations be wary!

army, navy, air force - for war!
they're biggest by far
our pride, our star

might makes right
just look at US
God's shining light!

  316.

USA outsider

always an outsider
where i prefer to be
not a go-along with
thoughtless insanity

let's go to war!
says the christian right
because our leader
tells us to
those stupid peace lovers
haven't a clue!

enrich the rich,
their wealth will trickle down
the poor can help themselves
out of their own darn mess

drill! drill! drill! for oil
what unspoiled wilderness is for!
If exxon messes up and spills
well, hire for cleanup
those miserable poor!

we are the right
our name says it all
always right
the rest always wrong
and we've got lots of money
to fight, fight, fight!

our nation is our god
we're usa number one
don't you dare criticize!
we are proud of our very proud eyes
