You've Lived For Seventy Years

You've lived for seventy years and you've never been in jail
Yet you are seen as one more who did fail
By Big Brother's self appointed judges of the World out there
Their judging panel big they are not rare
You've never harmed anyone in any way
And your taxes you have never failed to pay
Worked to support your wife and raise your family
Yet you are seen as one at the base of social tree
By Big Brother's judges who uphold class and rank
For inequality 'tis their like we have for to thank
By material possessions people they compare
Though not everyone can be a billionaire
That you've lived honest and worked hard doesn't mean a thing
Since Big Brother's judges the praises of your type never sing.

Yvonne Delacy's Brainchild

The market at Kallista is Yvonne Delacy's brainchild
For to get it up and running she worried and she toiled
Yet in the mountain village few mentions of her name
She is the quiet achiever she never yearns for fame.

The monthly market at Kallista into a huge success has grown
The brainchild of a brainy woman who is not that well known
Even in her own place of Kallista where she still resides today
Fame is for those who yearn for it or so 'twould seem that way.

On the first saturday of every month the quiet Village of Kallista comes alive
And the market field deserted at other times like a busy Human hive
Of stall holders and market goers and trade is always good
In the market of Kallista in the shadows of the wood.

The brainchild of Yvonne Delacy it was her dream come true
But she does not get the credit the credit she is due
For starting Kallista market it has grown and grown in time
And to the one whose idea it grew from I dedicate this rhyme.

Zephyr Hart

If you want your car repaired or want to fit an engine part
It well might pay you to ring Zephyr Hart
He's not hard to pay and is good at what he do
And he will be quite happy to help you.

Come rain or shine you will find him working hard
In his work shop a tin shed in his back yard
Working on engines and repairing brakes and punctured tyres
The work he does great character requires.

My datsun it is showing it's years in wear
And has rust spots on the body here and there
But despite all this the old car still survive
And it's thanks to Zephyr that it's still fit to drive.

In a mechanic's life there's lots of heavy toil
His hands and work clothes stained with grease and oil
It's not the type of work that many would enjoy
And there's easier ways to earn one's living by.

And though in the Yarra Ranges motor mechanics are not rare
And there's cars aplenty for them to repair
But for a car tune up or to fit an engine part
At a most competitive price your best bet Zephyr Hart.

Zoo Lion

The speedy zebra fears the killer bite
And quickly race off in African night
And warns all others with her whinnying cry
'The word is out it's run flat out or die'.

The frightened wildebeest race off in fear
He hear the zebra know danger is near
The very thought all through him send a chill
The lion is out and hunting for the kill.

But male zoo lion you instil no such fear
As you were born in this wired run here
The animals nearby not scared of you
You cannot reach them in a wired in zoo.

They do not even tremble when you roar
They raise their heads and listen little more
And show no desire to bolt and run away
And they do not fear you as a beast of prey.

Your wild kin chase and kill the wildebeest
Whilst on a hunk of man killed beef you feast
And the only life you've ever known is this
But what you never knew you never miss.

the zebra here don't fear the killer bite
And when the zoo lion roars they don't feel fright
And unlike their wild cousins thousands of miles away
They do not fear the lion as beast of prey.
