We Pay To Learn
We pay to learn as some are known to say
And crooks are many it would seem that way
And from the poorest people some do steal
To their type morals never do appeal.
For many not a good World to live in
Where to be poor by some seen as a sin
Where many look old long before their prime
And just for to exist turn to petty crime.
We never stop learning though we grow old and gray
And a new lesson for us from life every day
And the lessons from life in hindsight we recall
Though some from life seem to learn little at all.
Of a happier future many only daydream
And we must pay to learn or so it would seem
By Lady Luck many of joy are denied
And the gap between the haves and the have nots is growing ever wide.

We Read And Hear Too Much
Far too much of war and terrorism we read of and hear
That gives rise to suspicion and mistrust and fear
Of those of different gender and race
In the World for such there should not be a place.
This Planet with other races we share
But in a World where gun lobbyist are as ever not rare
The lives of those different we look on as cheap
But in Karma what we sow we also do reap.
We read of and hear too much of terrorists and men of war
They have taken their hatred of those they see as different too far
The numbers of the conflict victims escalate
In post conflict years in crimes of hate.
From past mistakes we have not learned at all
For conflict life is too short and the World is too small
We dislike some we do not even know
And dislike to hatred as we know can grow.
For war more than one is to blame
And conflict gives rise to crimes of shame
Lets hear and read more of those who promote peace instead
Of war men who pride in their war dead.

We Read Of The Glorious Battles
We read about glorious battles and of brave soldiers the balladeer sing
But few ever venture to tell us that war never solves anything
Just look at those war ravaged cities reduced to rubble where the big bombs fell
Some of the survivors with horrific injuries these poor people have been through hell.
The refugee camps over crowded with the people with nowhere to go
When they apply to foreign Governments for entry permits the answer they get back is 'no'
We do not need you in our Country and do not bother to re-apply
In refugee camps they will grow old and in refugee camps they may die.
Their homes destroyed by bombs that missed their target the mother for her dead children grieve
She still feels she is living a nightmare and her misfortune she can scarcely believe,
She is in a refugee camp with thousands of others enduring extreme poverty
A victim like millions of others of crimes against humanity.
We read of the glorious victory and of the brave soldiers who for freedom died
But we seldom hear of the war victims the poor people whose lives are destroyed,
The Stateless of the refugee camps, the poor people who don't have a home
And the people who destroyed their cities are the people who now them disown.

We See The Flaws In Others
We see the flaws in others our own flaws we don't see
This is how it's always been with us and this is how 'twill always be
The non judgemental people are becoming more rare
It surely would not be this way if we were more self aware
Those into judging others are low in self esteem
We judge others to rate ourselves or so it does seem
But to be into self improvement it does seem fair to say
We must start to look inward there is no other way
For from judging other people arrogance and lack of compassion we only gain
You cannot become a better person if as judgemental you do remain
Lucky are those who have compassion their praises we ought to sing
They are not into judging others that is such a good thing
The words in the philosophy of live and let live are well worthy of recall
And let us raise the toasting glass to a fair go for all.
