To Kill It Is Her Natural Way

The lovely bird the black cat did kill
The goldfinch with short thin bill
Never more amongst the sunlit garden trees
Will be heard singing in the breeze
On smaller things the cat does prey
To kill it is her natural way
To her there isn't any wrong
In killing a small bird of song
She does not know like you or i
That one day she too has to die
A natural predator one might say
She hunts by night and hunts by day
And since she does not know of guilt or shame
For the lives she takes she is not to blame.

To Laurie Levy

Duck shooters in L Levy see no good
But Laurie Levy been misunderstood
And without the likes of Laurie as a friend
So many ducks would have a cruel end.

L Levy is the man duck shooters hate
But I think he is absolutely great
He stand between the duck and shooter's gun
And do his outmost best to spoil their fun.

L Levy's actions speak louder than words
From shooters guns he try to save wild birds
And tears of sorrow well up in his eyes
When he see shot duck falling from the skies.

The duck shooters their so called sport enjoy
They love to watch the duck fall from the sky
They shoot the harmless wild duck as they fly
And laugh aloud and watch their victims die.

And if Laurie and his friends at home would stay
The duck shooters would have things their own way
And without the Laurie Levys on their side
Five times as many wild ducks would have died.

He is the man that the wild duck shooters hate
But I think he is absolutely great
He stand between the duck and shooter's gun
And rob these so called sportsmen of their fun.

To Lisa On Her Birthday

Happy birthday to you Lisa I hear that you are seventeen
And the years they have flown quickly like waters of a flooded stream
Yes those years have flown so quickly seems like only yesterday
That I was shown a photo of you as a baby by your grandma in Claraghatlea.

And now you've grown into a woman young and lovely to behold
Not too far now from your prime day when you are seventeen years old
And there has to be good future for a good young lady such as you
And bet you will be successful at whatever you choose to do.

You are a nice young lady Lisa that's how you appear to me
And I know you'll be successful it runs in the family
And though life is never easy it has never been that way
Bet that you will come out winning I think you will do okay.

Happy birthday to you Lisa life is yours for to enjoy
Though time is very precious it's a thing one cannot buy
And though life is never easy what matter most of all
Is that you always be happy and your biggest problem small.

To Live In A Poor Place Or Suburb

To live in a poor Place or Suburb as bad as a punishable crime
That's how it is and always will be 'tis something that won't change in time
On the road that leads from the poor Suburb it is a long hike to success
Condemned by the street that you live on and condemned by your postal address
Condemned by the judgements of the judgemental to spend their lives in Earthly Hell
Few very few from the poor Suburb in life ever seem to do well
The judgemental arrogant talk of life choices but never of birth circumstance
The homeless youth of Poverty Street of success have such a slim chance
For them life is such a hard battle a tough steep climb all of the way
Where many are doomed for to die young and few live to be old and gray
Where so many do become outlaws and spend most of their lives in jail
They follow in parental footsteps from birth they are doomed for to fail
Those born and raised in the poor Place or Suburb have little hope of happiness
Their life journey is such a tough road with so little chance of success.
