In a world of peace
In another constellation
live another you and I
happy to be with one another
so in love and so alive
perhaps they both have children
could it be their wars have ceased
or maybe they're not hungry
living in a world of peace
Look above and you will see them
they're not difficult to find
view your soul, and be them
test your heart and test your mind
we have so much life in common
a date with destiny to keep
it only takes a word well spoken
and life on earth would live in peace.

Back up the Hill
As I walked down to the river today
I met a man with no legs in a chair
we spoke about life and he stood tall in a way
as I walked down to the river
As I walked on I met a blind girl
who gave me directions just over the hill
for someone like me who was lost she could see
as I walked on to the river
Down by the banks I met a small child
whose mother and father had recently died
and he splashed around with a heartful of life
down by the banks of the river
As I looked in the river I saw a young man
a reflection of me if you understand
who thought he would end it as he coudn't cope
as I looked into the river
Considering the people I met on the way
they didn't give up I heard myself say
and though I believed that I'd been through the mill
I laughed at the river, and walked back up the hill.

Annie
Annie wid ye walk wi me
an let me haud yer haun
sic fair a haun a ken wid brek
mans hert ye understaun
an we could walk doon
through the glen tae Arrochar the day
me watching lochside watters lap
yir footsteps oan the way
Annie ye sair mak ma hert burst
through ma timid breast
fur I hiv loved ye always
like a man that dies o thirst
ma een has fair been blighted
ony time I looked at you
so much so that ma tears when fallen
mingle wi the dew
Annie hiv ye ever seen
the stars oot oan the moor
in darkened silence they appear
fur you o that I'm sure
if you an they wid ever meet
I'd say withoot a doot
on seeing you am sure that they wid
turn their sparkle oot
Annie yer fair cherry creamed
complexion fulls ma een
the fire, in yer rid hair
maks me think that you'r a dream
fur where could sic sweet beauty
huv been made upoan this earth
the gods in heaven must hiv sighed
when you wur given birth
Annie if we walked an talked
there widnae be anither
fur none could mak ma hert say proud
as us aye being taegither
for a' the suns and moons and stars
or aples in the trees
could tak away the love a hiv
if you wid walk wi me.

Blue.
When I see the world evolving
turning into something new
and I'm sure my heart is calling
wishing I could be with you
well it makes me sad to realise
you can't have everything
when you know that one day you
will never hear the blue whale sing
A woman filters water
from a pool in Africa
makes me wonder why humanity
is reaching for the stars
and I would love to touch you
smell the sweetness of your hair
before the forest of the Amazon
completely disappears
The cost of making plastic bags
and things we throw away
could save another species
from extinction so they say
and yes you know I love you
like my love of everything
and it breaks my heart that
someday we won't hear the blue whale sing.
