This Ol' Guitar
This ol' guitar
has been my best friend
through thick and thin
It has held all my thoughts
spoken them through melody
words whispered from my heart
And at times
this ol' guitar
has even held tears at bay
Stopped my world from falling apart
it even has kept
this ol' heart from breaking in two
Yes, this ol' guitar
has served these aging hands
of mine so well
This ol' guitar
it has created music
that screamed out to be heard
This ol' guitar
has been my best friend
through thick and thin....

A guitar and a piece of my heart
I own a guitar
One in black like velvet
I sing with my guitar
My fingers move fret to fret
I sing a lonely song with that guitar
Makes me frisky, drives the loneliness afar
I sing a sad song with that guitar
Makes me happy, keeps the sadness apart
I keep picking from spring to autumn
Under the maple trees we used to glee
I keep listening from tune to tune
Under the brightest sun we used to flee
I remember when you gone
It was in April, the day I wasnt that strong
The day I sang no more songs
The day you went away on your own
Now it is December
Maple leaves fall together
I grab my guitar once more
I sing a lovely song
for you Im sure
My black guitar, the one like velvet
Ill keep it for you until you come back
So youll find out where my heart at
That little piece from my heart shack
Ill give it to you, my black guitar
So you and me
well never be apart
And soon youll figure it out
I keep it in my black guitar
that little piece of my heart

learning to live alone and be happy
in my little Bisayan town
the guitar strings are loose
and the sound
becomes musically challenged
i will be having a hard time
with my lyrics
and choice of pitch
because of this faulty guitar
and this
hardheaded guitarman
one day i decided to sing alone
less the guitar
and the guitarist
and then i learned to live
and sing
without so much fuss
without
any need for a guitar
or any accompaniment
surprisingly
i can sing alone and yet
still be in tune
without things
without so many people
yes, it is this solitude
and the rest becomes mere surplusage

This Is How I Let Go
Guitar in hand
It plays my heart's tunes
As here, in my bathroom, I stand
Eyes closed
All emotion flowing from my heart into my hand
Then out of my guitar's notes
Here I stand
All emotion flowing
Lost and confused
My hurt is now showing
I say, 'let it show'
And continue to write and play my guitar
Out, my hurt does flow
Onto the paper and from the guitar
This is how I let my hurt go
And soon by what people read
They will know
This is how I let it go
