The Chocolate and Vanilla of Courage

There is the courage of the body of which I have read
or heard the stories of the elders of my tribe
Roy Benavidez spitting in the medics face
to communicate he was alive - half dead.
John Levitow passed out on the ramp of Spooky 71.
Dave Carter giving a kidney to help a co-worker live.
William Graves refusing medical aid.
'Four Chaplains' who I will only meet in heaven.
Yet, on my quiet porch the other courage haunts me.
Steve Stalonas refusing my brainless adulation.
Henry Nixon calling the bigotry of his superiors.
In history George Marshall wisking away a President's favor
at risk to self.
With age I know very little but I am certain that
Courage comes in at least two flavors
Both are ice cream.

Pot of gold

They razed their houses
killed their gracious men - and women
wept and children died in carnage

They took the land
and swept across removing signs
of life and signs which showed their courage

They found the speaking
harsh and tore the books and manuscripts
and made remaindered people learn their language

They made up godlike
ways to quell the people into fearfulness
The Moon was God and people paid Him homage

They still removed them
silently to quell resistance in the towns
and tortured women into murder savage

They pointed to the moon
- the God - and said This God approves of us
It does not falter in the sky
but sails serenely overhead
illuminating our superior knowledge

Serene the moon sailed brightly overhead

The extra moon
came roaring in a rainbow arc
to meet the ground - a pot of gold
consuming all their battlements

Which shows that gods can disapprove
of actions to destroy by wilful carnage
the most delightful children born
to women calm and peaceful men
destroying every facet left of courage
changing for the speech of war their language
forcing those remaining to pay homage
to gods who - if they be at all
and oversee the realm of human life -
would not approve barbarity as courage

Poetic Greatness

POETIC GREATNESS..
No one can know the potential, of a life that is committed to win; With courage - the challenge it faces, To achieve great success in the end..
So, explore the Poetic Dimension of Greatness, and believe that the world CAN be won; By a mind that is fully committed, KNOWING the task can be done..
Your world has no place for the skeptic, No room for the DOUBTER to stand; To weaken your firm resolution That you CAN EXCEL in this land...
We must have VISION TO SEE our potential, And FAITH TO BEPoetic GreatnessIEVE that we can; Then COURAGE TO ACT with conviction, To become what GOD MEANT us to be..

Your voice alone possess the strength and the courage to conquer WHATEVER you choose; It's the person WHO NEVER GETS STARTED, That is destined FOREVER to lose..

* Put Courage Into Your Heart

Put courage into your heart
Drive swiftly to take a start
And fill your soul with your dreams
Of wishful thinking and hope's beam

And know that to have a fulfilled life
You need to nicely and courageously drive
The car of your dreams and hope
Filled with love and smile's cope

Just learn to get back in touch
With whatever is going around much
And search for inner strength and feel
And make with life a lovely deal

whenever life throws you a curve ball
Return it and rebuild hope's wall
And learn to have a fulfilled life
Where hopes and dreams freely survive

And empower your self and deep inside
With courage of mind and emotion's wide
And trust your feelings and your mind
Then life will always be with you kind

Just put courage into your heart
Drive swiftly to make a start
And fill your soul with your dreams
Of wishful thinking and hope's beam.
