My Country

Each blade of grass
And every stretch of rode
Everywhere you set foot
Is America
The home in which you build
Whether on mountain or ocean
Whether Hall or hut
Is America
Each Olympic game you see
Every election you vote in
Every NASCAR race you watch
Is America
Each of mom’s apple pies
Each BK burger
Every spot of property you claim
Is America
Every bus stop
Every truck stop
Every tollbooth
Is America
Every slack jawed hick
Every movie hunk
Every Paris Hilton
Is America
Every kegger party
Every hangover morning
Every stupid thing on TV
Is America
Black and Asian,
Hispanic and white
Every color and creed
Is America
Celebrate
That you live in
America

  3.

My America

Its span is such
An eagle in its flight
My pulse does shriek and pound,
For America-
My America-
Ever coasting homeward bound.

To me
She sweeps and soars above
For ever she will be free,
She is America,
My America,
For justice-
In liberty.

So great her breadth
So wide her yar
A beauty to reckon with,
America,
She is my America,
Enforged of brawn
and myth.

And though she may retreat,
reverse,
fall back
and then seem to rest-
She is doing nothing of the sort,
but is ever gathering-
(while the UN is merely blathering)
Her audacious,
crowning breath.

So enemies,
you should be aware
As should our “friends” who jibe
and jest,
For America,
My America,
Though fallen to her knees-
Is a Renaissance at its best.

And through
and o’er the raging strife
And weary blow-ups
shall she roam,
America,
My America,
Ever will she come home.

For though “sophisticates”
may cavil hoarse
And some rurals
they may scorn,
In America,
My America,
These people
are her corps.

And in this country,
My America,
They’re Americans-
Peace or War!

Atomic Insanity Bomb

America, we're drained of enthusiasm for you
America, why this meaningless war?
America, you are no longer beautiful
America, when will you see the light?
When will you call peace and dance and sing
When will you look in the mirror
and see the menace you have become?
When will you read the philosophies of God
that say Thou Shalt Not Kill?
America, when will you open your eyes?
America, why do you dye the shores red?
Why are the guns loaded with skulls?
Why do you leave your brothers behind
To charge bull-like at a cloth too large for you?
America, why are you putting a gun to your head?
America, stop killing me I'm not
Innocent, not Guilty
AMERICA STOP PUSHING!
America don't liberate me I'm already independent.
America I refuse to give up my rights
I refuse to give up others' rights
America don't reject your own
America the HATE is growing
They're rising up growing
America, let the prisoners go
The scholars of war in peace in hate in freedom
The Ginsbergs and Kerouacs and Dickesons and Whitmans
Of generations past
Free the ones whose philosophies peace it together
America your war is at home
America what is your motto?
Mission is not accomplished
It has just started.
America you have life to give,
not take away.
America, you deserve this war
America, my love for you is gone
America, monster, stop your screaming slashing rage
Look into your past
America LEARN from your mistakes
America, make it continue
AMERICA MAKE IT STOP
